Both need to be taken into consideration. Most importantly though is your budget. While we offer quotes to suit all types of jobs and are very price competitive in the market, occasionally people are a little under prepared for what “may be” install for them.

Consider how old your swimming pool is. You may need more than just a “cosmetic upgrade”.

When giving you a quote for your pool renovation, we will also check out your filtration system, coping, lighting options (if you currently have lighting) water features to name a few. This is to ensure they are all in perfect working order, as there may well be some components you have no need to replace.

In working out your budget take into consideration any components, you know that are worn out, any extras you may like to add and any new landscaping you would like to include.

As there are many aspects to renovating a pool, we have broken down below, each area/component that is and can be involved with upgrading your swimming pool.

The Aspects of Pool Renovations

Coping

Coping The Pool Shell Wall

Coping is the cap on the edge of your swimming pool (like a frame around a photo) which is mounted on the bond beam. There are a number of options you can use: concrete, wood decking, tile or natural stones.

Styling can include, straight lengths, curved sections or corners. Keep in mind “pool safety” when choosing your coping, to ensure you have a non slip surface, which is especially important when dealing with children around pools.

Waterline Band

Water Reflection

The waterline band is the “tile line” which is placed immediately under the coping area. This defines between your coping and underwater finish.

Tiles are the preferred choice for your waterline band area because they are much easier to clean than anything else. Design tip; choosing more earthy, monochromatic colours will ensure you don’t become bored with a tile pattern to “busy” around the pool edge.

Pebblecrete Interior

Durable Cost Effective

Pebblecrete interiors can be used as your swimming pool interior. It is a mixture of where fine pebbles and cement are combined & applied to your pool interior.

There are a number of different blends so as to create the colour reflection you are looking for in your pool, whether a tropical green or bright clean blue. A plus when using pebblecrete interiors in your pool renovation is they are cost effective & durable.

Fully Tiled

The Ultimate Interior Choice

To gain the best “finish” for your pool, pool tiles are the only way to go, being the most hard wearing & smoothest interior choice. Tiles are an easier maintenance option, coming in glass or ceramic.

By using pool tiles though, you will gain more flexibility in the design, texture and colour for your interior. Due to the work involved using pool tiles on your swimming pool interior, it is vital you use a professional pool tiler!

Filtration

Keep It Clean!

All pools need a quality filtration system and it is essential they operate correctly, as pool water is cycled through several times a day removing debris & oxidized material from the water. If your filter system isn’t working correctly you will end up with conditions that create an algae population and cloudy water.

There are two types of filters to choose from – Sand and Cartridge filters. We will advise on the best filtration system for your pool explaining the maintenance required, costs & benefits.

Pool Surrounds

The Finishing Off Stage

The surrounding area of your swimming pool includes the immediate outer paving area, any retainer walls needed, extra features and garden. The pool surrounds also creates the atmosphere you are wanting to achieve.

Several choices for the outer area of your pool are: Stone, Imitation Stone, Wood Decking, Concreate & Tiles. It is important to remember pool safety should be your first consideration. Non slip surfaces are the best choice for the immediate area surrounding your pool.
